From “La French” to “Bac Nord”
After La French released in 2014 and which traced the history of the French Connexion in the 70s, the Marseilles director from the northern districts, Cédric Jimenez wished in this new film to retrace the contemporary history of a trio of police officers of the Bac Nord, fighting the scourge of drugs. The screenplay of this film (presented at the seventy-fourth edition of the Cannes Film Festival out of competition) which is released in theaters today, is based on facts that made the headlines in 2012.
Gilles Lelouche from thug to cop or from cop to thug?
In La French, Gilles Lelouche played a godfather of the Marseille underworld: Gaetan Zampa dit Tany. In Bac Nord, Gilles Lelouche plays Greg a borderline policeman to fight drug trafficking in the cities. Released with his two colleagues Antoine (François Civil) and Yassine (Karim Leklou) by the hierarchy which then sees them as dirty.
